| | | Sterling to CHF Exchange Rate
I noticed today that the exchange rate for Sterling to CHF is showing as CHF1.989/£
This is the first time that I have noticed the rate below 2.000
This represents around 20% change in the past year. Not very good news for you if you have funds in Sterling. I guess that there must be some winners from this.

Some say it may be a good time to transfer CHF into GBP.

...and once again we open the great debate about FX rates, which are done to death on every ex-pat forum everywhere in the world. Swissy-Sterling being a new one for me, but I don't suppose this thread will be too much different in content than euro-dollar threads on Toytown Germany in the past. Interest Rates, or rather the perception of future interest rates, Purchase power parity, and long term averages are three of the most important factors (if not the three most important) governing FX movements. Let's see if we avoid a mundane debate about the UK's economy/housing market being up **** creek with a distinct lack of paddles, etc, etc.

Sorry for being offtopic.
I can't see any sticky posts regarding the best exchange rate offered for GBP.
I have found http://raiffeisen2.inet.rolotec.ch/r...p?mode=devisen
to be the best to get GBP. i.e I want to exchange my CHF for GBP.
Any other recommendations.
Thanks

Hi all, I take it by using xe trade it works out much cheaper than using UBS online and transferring money abroad through them ?
Does anyone know how much is saved by doing this ?
Regards, CM

T | | | | | I have recently seen adverts for a service that claims to give better exchange rates than traditional methods FairFX
They are currently quoting CHF1.7235 to £1
If anyone has any info. on this company or better suggestions, I would like to hear as well.

any alternative / ideas to using banks for x-changing to or from CHF are welcome!! | | | | | I used it once to send cash back to the UK, wasn't hugely impressed with the rates offered. The next time I wanted to send cash over I did the transfer with UBS's ebanking system. As soon as that completed I went onto xe.com's site and got a quote for the same transfer, which was a few percent worse that the rate UBS gave me.
The thing I like about xe.com is that they give you a quote for the transfer that you can take of leave. Going on the UBS site I have no idea how much it's going to cost until the transfer is completed.
For me sending money to the UK, going through UBS is the way to go. I say UBS as this is where I have my bank accounts. Others (CS/Post finance/kantonal) may be better/worse. As xe.com is an America website they may have their rates geared towards US$ trading and provide better rates in that direction.
Another option that has been mentioned on here a number of times is www.wechselstube.com.
But this is just my personal experiance and you might want to do some more research.

Plus charges of course. In which case, I imagine a phone call would tell you the exchange rate. I also have found it problematic to track down this information online.

So which way will GB Sterling go against the Swiss Franc over the next few months?
It is CHF 1.77 to £ 1.00 this morning.
