I did my internship in Switzerland for the past few months and have now moved back to my hometown in a non EU country. Now I received a tax declaration form (Steuererklärung 2008) sent all the way to mé at my hometown. I read somewhere in this forum that usually it is only relevant for those earning more than 120k CHF per year. As an intern I received a low income and hence I have no intention to go through all the trouble for any possible tax refund on the Quellensteuer I paid.

I am just wondering on why I received the form although I never request anything for the Steuererklärung. Should I just ignore it? (I certainly have no other income to declare) Would it have any consequences if I eventually back to Switzerland for another employment?

If i was you i would fill it out and send it back, incase you ever want to come back, so it doesn't cause any problems...

honestly, I was a bit confused with all the taxation terms. It is certainly not a pleasant thing to do for the eventually little CHF or what that I might get.

Is it better if I just maybe email them and ask them to "deregister" me from the tax system? Is it possible? For an eventual return to CH later, can't it be another story where I start afresh as a new person coming to CH?
