tax return: share in a company not listed in the software/estv site

hi

i'm preparing for / playing with a the ZRH software for making a return later this year. I've come up against the following problem and wonder anyone here has a solution:

i own shares in a company that cannot be found in the sotware? searching name, 'Valor' number from my bank statement, etc returns nothing and even in the main website does not list them. I found a couple of these now!

anyone find similar and how do they deal with it? Am i just too early and/or will they show up later? An example would be the company ELAN

tia, bill

nope, that's my problem:

http://www.ictax.admin.ch/static/fr/index.html

the link above is the same info that gets sent to the software when used in the application. I updated my tax software already.

ELAN and 558486 are not there above! for example AT&T are!

Bump.

Have exactly the same problem. All cantons use the same provider and the data come from Federal ICTax.

Anyone solved this?
So what do you do if the shares in a specific company do not appear?
How do you evaluate the taxable value and the dividend return?

Just use company name, left of the no many times.

The dividend is what was paid out as dividend.

Market value at 31.12, if no market exists the value is not far from 0

The year-end value of a stock is normally listed on the December statement.

US stocks year-end values and dividend payment dates can be found at nasdaq.com. For example, the 31 December 2015 value and dividend payment dates for AT&T (T) are at these links:

http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/t/historical

http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/t/dividend-history

Re: tax return: share in a company not listed in the software/estv site

i replied with PM.

to sumarise: A CH broker must provide you with the annual dividends and year end position and value you hold if you ask for it for tax reasons. 'Manually' enter these details into the software and don't validate it against the online source just save it. The toals will carry on to the rest of the calculations.

For non-CH brokers you must get some sort of a year end statement and you should usually get earnings statements as well during the year, repeat above. If the data is incomplete refer to google finance, yahoo etc. enter the details manually as they display it. Send all documentary proof to your tax authority when submitting. In addition mention in the sotware under the comment field what the issue is with this security.

CH tax authorities are pretty pragmatic, unless you have an amazingly large position and/or utterly obscure security then what I described (and carried out myself in the past) will be fine. Worst case they will raise further queries when they evaluate it and ask you for more exact details.

bill

p.s. forgot to mention: the software and the lists get updated several times even after the March (ZRH) deadline. try again just beore you submit.
