Filing tax return in Basel

Hi

Can anyone help me as to how I can do my tax return with Basel Canton?
IS there any guide in this forum? I found one for the Zurich canton...

Main problem is understanding the application (language problem) and the details that need to be furnished along with the return.

Any sharing of experience can help...
BTW I am employed and my tax is deducted at source but still i was told to file the return even though my salary <120k...

Thanks in advance
Edwin

I can't offer much help on this one, but I would double check the filing requirement. I've never lived in that canton, but I never had to file when my salary was under 120.

Basel Stadt, or Basel Land? Either way - have you considered using a Treuhand?

You may find that you're due a refund. I got refunds every year while I was on quellensteuer.

there's something funny going on there this year. there has been a thread on this before. i suspect it has something to do with the new AVS number.

Hi Eddy

I used Saxer Treuhand AG, Basel. He speaks some English and I speak some German, so between us we made ourselves understood. He was great - got me a refund on AHV contributions as well as a tax refund and I think his fee was reasonable. Not only did he save me money but also a huge headache because I didn't have a clue how to complete all the forms...

By the way, I'm recommending him simply because he is good! His number is 061 262 04 04.

Thanks so much for this useful information. I was in fact looking for some consultants but they charge 120CHF per hour and said would take about 2-3 hrs. I will contact him and try my luck...
thanks again
