You were charged "Import Fees Deposit" ? And it was accurate - they didn't charge more?

I'm thinking about buying a tomtom satnav that won't be cheaper than here but the model is slightly different.
Make sure it includes the European maps as well or you'll end up paying extra for them. UK satnav systems are notorious for only having UK maps, though I think they're getting better at including others lately.

I didn't pay any more on delivery and from their T&Cs, the worst case is that Amazon charge more than necessary and refund you afterwards.

I'm trying to buy quite a few things - TV, Printers, etc... I know there is conrad, digitec, and even en.toppreise.ch for price comparisons
It doesn't make sense to buy electronics or computer equipment from the UK. Digitec is cheaper and you can return the item to the shop in Switzerland if there's problem, not to mention the UK plug.

Still, if you need to order items from Amazon UK or DE, my suggestion is that you get them shipped to the German border instead and go pick them up from there. There are several companies that offer a German postal address in border towns. You have to pay a small fee depending on the size of the package. One of these companies is http://deutsche-lieferadresse.com/

That way you save money on the shipping (cost of sending all over Germany is the same, as soon as you cross the border it's 4 times as much) and you don't have to pay the duty fees (up to 300 CHF).
