Re: Someone's telling porkies! (International transaction troubles)

This morning the wife faxed off a statement to Natwest that ZKB compiled for us, detailing where the transaction losses were incurred, and stating that the IBAN we had been given was only valid for Euros, and was in their opinion inapropriate. Without blinking an eye, Natwest have agreed to refund us GBP 500:-
I assume that they realised that they would have difficulty proving that the IBAN we were using did not come from them.

So all's well that ends well, but what a sneaky set of SOB's in Natwest.

Cheers

Jim

Re: Someone's telling porkies! (International transaction troubles)

Nevertheless, spread the word that ex-pats need to check exactly what kind of IBAN they have been given. It's certainly a nice little earner the banks have there, and not easy to uncover.

Thanks again for the advice,

Jim

Given the state of the RBS group's finances I guess every penny Natwest makes counts to them but it's good to see they had the decency cough up. Now they're 70% owned by the UK government, you never know. Your CHF 500 might have gone towards cleaning some fat cat MP's moat, or mending the water pipe under his tennis court or paying the mortgage on that second home his mistress lives in or.........

...or buying another toilet seat for John Prescott

Glad it all worked out Jim and you've now got your money back.
