Are payments by credit card protected in Switzerland in the same way as they are in UK?

I've seen a couple of comments on EF that it's better to pay for things with credit cards because of the extra protection.

As far as I am aware, in the UK this protection only arises because of the Consumer Credit Act. I wouldn't have thought banks would offer the protection if they didn't have to.

Is there something similar in Switzerland?
