Re: Rolling up coins--is it done in CH?

Does anyone who if the Sihlpost in ZH has a self-sorting change machine?

I like the prospect of dumping in all the change, and don't like the thought of rolling up tons of coins in paper.

Thanks.

I could do without tutting staff there; they may even go postal on me!

At the bigger PostFinance, at least the ones in Basel (Freiestrasse, and Claraplatz), but presumably elsewhere too, they have a self-service machine you can dump the loose coins in to, and it gives you the receipt which you then take to the desk. No need to sort out the coins yourselves. It spits anything it doesn't like (eg Euro coins) back out to you. There wasn't any charge for doing it.

Once you give the counter staff the receipt, they credited my PostFinance account, but I think you also will give you the cash in notes if you ask them.
Hi MoeCat, today my husband went to Claraplatz post office to dump coins (for first time). But he couldn't find any such machine there and the "Die Post" employee helped him to roll the coins (ahh I hate that and so are in search of dumping machine) and asked him to do it at home from next time.

Any one knows where dump machine available in Basel, please?
