paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

I'd like to pay someone that has a Raiffeisenbank account at the post office with cash. Can i do it?

So far I have only come across PC-Konto with 9 digits, but this time I've got the following info:

Bankenclearing: 8***6 (only 5 digits)
(Iban: CH77 8*** 6000 0035 **** *)

Thanks for your help..

Yes, you can do this with the pay-in slip at the Post Office counter. But I think the final destination account number is required as well.

Thanks for such a quick reply!
And do I put only the "five bankenclearing" digits? ( a part from name and address)

what do you mean by "final destination account number"?

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

I've had to put the BIC, IBAN ( or alternatively the final account number Raiffeisenbank if known ), PC Konto number for Raiffeisenbank, name of beneficiary and sender, their addressese and reference text eg Ebay Art. Nr. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

IBAN is a comprehensive and unique identifier. It contains country code, bank id and account number. Further details are redundant but may be useful if the IBAN is inaccurately entered.

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

Thanks for your answers, but I've got another question now:
how long does it take for the other person to receive it?
my previous payments by the post were received the same day, but probably were always post accounts (or bank to bank)..

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

P.S. I've got a ricardo seller saying that he has not received the payment since tuesday. Other sellers always got it the same day.

I am worried that I've done something wrong at the post in the end!

It shouldn't take more than 48 hours. In any event, scan and send the Ricardo seller by email of the Post Office deposit slip that was attested by the Post Office counter staff.

Thanks Jrspet!
So he should have received it by yesterday ..
I have sent him another email asking to check again, but I'll take your advice and scan or fax the receipt.

Why don't they add paypal or credit card payments in ricardo.. i haven't used these kind of payment slips since more than 10 years!

I use E-finance which is the electronic version of the same stuff you did over the counter. It goes to just about any bill provider, ebay / ricardo seller locally as well as overseas efficiently provided you maintain an account with Post Finance.

CC / paypal payments might add a surcharge, but offers more protection.

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

But you need to have a post account on the first place, don't you?
I don't even have a bank account.. I am still travelling between here and UK, that's why paypal or credit card payments would suit me best.

Re: paying cash at the post office to a bank account?

It is very easy to open a PostFinance account and request for E-finance. Monthly fee ( if your balance drops lower than a specified amount ) is CHF2/-. It took me 3 weeks to have the card, reader, PIN etc. as a fully working account with only my Permit.

So do cash payments at the post office counter. See page 9 of this PDF file ("Domestic Payments").

Thanks for that PDF - I used to get charged 50 rappen over the counter but that was until I used E-Finance.

Didn't hear from the seller - he took two days to answer my first emails, perhaps he'll asnwer tomorrow..
The payment should have gone through because on the day I also asked the person at the counter if I had done all right by showing him the details on the email.

You ought to consider Postfinance Transaction account with E-finance for future payments - low fees / maintenance, safe, efficient and convenient.
