Pay 100% for cancelled appointments

Hello All,
I am trying to inform myself on what the law is here regarding cancellation of appointments less than 24 hrs in advance. By law, do these firms have the right to collect 100% of the bill, or does this differ from business to business?
thanks and best,
Kate

Sometimes dentists and hygienists charge if your late canceling. I never got a bill from my doctor but he did visit me once to see why I didn't come.

I got charged for the one time I missed my dentists appointment.... never happened again (since then they call me a week and a day beforehand )

Since they are booked out soo long in advance, I guess they want to make sure that the people get their for the scheduled time...

added: Of course, this does not apply if you have a valid reason why you cannot be there and were not able to cancel the appointment at least 24 hours beforehand.....

I was informed that cancellation of appointments in Triemli Frauenspital within 24 hrs in advance costs 60 CHF.

Re: Pay 100% for cancelled appointments

I've no idea of the law, but watch out when missing appointments. I think it's only fair you pay if it's your fault; they're running a business after all.

When I first arrived here, back when Adam was a boy, I was stung when trying-to-be-helpful reception staff would translate the time of the appointment for me into English: "Half Two" in Swiss German is actually 13:30, not 14:30 as it appears. Cue a disgruntled receptionist, Doctor and Newbie when I turn up fifty minutes late and a bill to pay for no treatment
