I'm considering a permanent, senior position for a Swiss company that would have me traveling worldwide much of the year to work on projects in many countries. I would earn a salary in Switzerland and pay Swiss tax. I'm a US citizen (and would do the usual expat filing).
I'd like to know if there is a minimum number of days that I would be required to be present in Switzerland during the year. I expect I would have a B work permit.
The extra twist is that I would spend a good portion of time in one other country accompanying a diplomat, but not having working rights in that other country. So, I would be still be telecommuting for the Swiss position when there.
Does anyone have any input on how much time you need to be in Switzerland to be considered a regular employee of a Swiss company?
Thanks so much for the link. It was good to stretch my French language muscles after a long time...
I have also asked some more around and the general approach seems to be that the amount you stay should be logical for what your job is...meaning there's no fixed amount. If you have responsibilities for international projects, then that justifies traveling, etc.
Of course there's still tax liability (which I understand to be after 30 days if you are working) and the need to maintain an abode.
I really appreciate your taking time to answer my post, thanks again.
