xe.com - has anyone had experience with funds transfers?

Hi,

has anyone had experience transferring / exchanging money between CH and UK (or other countries) using xe.com?

They seems to offer decent exchange rate, but I still have some doubts regarding using them...

Or could anyone recommend another company they had good experience with money conversion / transfer?

thank you!

I use them frequently, they are always fast, efficient, provided good customer service when something went wrong (once), and I feel like I am getting a good exchange rate.

Well, I know my husband uses xe.com on a regular basis to transfer money from the UK to CH and he has never had any problems. Don't know anything else about the service but I do know it works quite well!

I move money regularily betwen France, CH, and UK and I use HiFX. I found I got a marginally better deal with them. I only used xe.com once and got charged a receiving fee by the bank in France, which never happens with HiFX. I couldn't really say there was any real difference in service between them though, so the receiving fee keeps me with HiFX.

Try www.oanda.com. I used them a while ago to transfer over some cash from the UK. All went very smoothly.

Re: xe.com - has anyone had experience with funds transfers?

Another happy customer of xetrade.com - their rates are good, transactions easy to carry out, transfers made quickly, and I don't pay any wire or other fees because both my banks allow free online EFT. I've only had one problem, which was a login issue, I emailed their support team and got a phone call from someone on their Canadian helpdesk about an hour later and she fixed the issue over the phone.

What is the best way to send some money back to the UK from Switzerland?
Any good sites or is it just best to take the cash and get it converted there?

Thank you very much for the replies re: xe.com and a couple of other suggestion - its always good to have options!

I actually went through all the trouble of registering with them and providing all the security info and even bravely booked a trade!

But the IBAN they gave me with the address for a bank on London came up on a multimat as as an address in Geneva, which stopped me on my tracks and I did not go through with it. is that how it with others who use xe?

I called and emailed them and eventually got a response that ' the bank used to be in Geneva but now moved to London, but its ok when it comes up with Geneva address, as they still registered there'? Does that sounds ok? I don't know much about banking etc....

thanks!

Anyone transfer money from Switzerland to UK? If so how to get lowest charge/rates

see my post there. They are Swiss and in Switzerland. Sepa payments (to and from the EU to CH) are free, you only need IBAN and Bic codes. With them, registration was easy, you need to send a certified copy of your passport, no calling to bankers etc like with XE.com, and they are friendly and knowledgeable, cheap and fast. Re: xe.com - has anyone had experience with funds transfers?

I have his evening concluded my first transfer with Currencyfair. With Currencyfair you name your exchange rate. I was charged CHF 4.00 for the conversion fee.

I changed GBP 2000 into CHF 3115.60 including all charges, etc.

I don't expect to be charged when the money appears in my CH bank account.

That's an effective rate of 1.5578. At the same time, xe.com was showing the spot rate was 1.56718, and the rate they offered me (before wire transfer fees that amount to about CHF 20) was 1.5437.

Xe's lack of EFT outside of USA and Canada officially blows chunks.

Re: xe.com - has anyone had experience with funds transfers?

****RESURRECTING OLD THREAD****

I have sung the praises of xe before, but in response to an unanswered question in this thread..

I too was given a Swiss IBAN with a UK address to complete my CHF-->USD trade. The PostFinance woman at the counter recoiled in confusion and disgust and said I couldn't do a standard bank transfer.

I got on my e-finance, typed in the IBAN, used the xe corporate address in Canada as the contact, and in 1! day the funds were with xe, and the trade was made.

Their spread was about $0.015/dollar...which is okay in my book. (though less would be better.)

well transfer can be done bank to bank as well without much ado, assuming the bank allows you to open a CHF account as not all do.
