EFG Bank / Group / International

Hello... can anyone shed some light on EFG?
At the current stage it is not clear to me who is what as far as the bank located in Gva (EFG International)- is it a Greek bank which operates in CH? Is it a branch or subsidiary of a Greek bank?...

Please feel free to answer privately if you must (we wouldn't want to expose EF to retaliation from the banking community now, wouldn't we?).

Thank you - beers on me if I'm in ZH (sat 12th) or Gva...

Thx

P.

Confirm earlier posting: Swiss Bank having wealthy Greek owners (Family Latsis). For other owners, see: http://ge.ch/hrcintapp/externalCompa...ofrcLanguage=1

Moody's rating A2 (unsure how up to date).

EFG have expanded rapidly and recruited intensively. Also very active in Dubai (draw your own conclusions) and elsewhere in Middle East, etc..

Re: EFG Bank / Group / International

neither EFG Eurobank nor EFG International, which is the Swiss-based private bank, are private companies. Both are listed: Eurobank in Athens and EFG Intl in Zurich. They are, however, both linked to the Latsis family, who have a major shareholding.

Paul, the private bank's based in Geneva and Zurich but I think most of management is in Zurich. It's a Swiss bank, regulated by Finma. They bought a couple hedge-fund-of-fund things like CMA a few years back. On structured products, have you seen this:

I would never recommend EFG to someone. There are many nice
other banks around in Zurich & Geneva, working more professionally than EFG.

Can't recommend it.

Thank you!! The "swiss" bank being EFG International, I suppose....
I definitely found their efgfp page, hence my questions.

And now - while we were meeting the prospective client, Greece gets slammed by a nice downgrade (sending EURUSD in a tailspin, BTW)....
Let's see what our guy decides...

Paul
Greece <> Latsis holdings <> EFG PB.

Re: EFG Bank / Group / International

exactly...EFG International is the Swiss bank. I tend to refer to it as the private bank, although I know they do other stuff as well but my understanding of the structured product, hedge fund and trading stuff is it's mostly client-driven. But there is no way of knowing whether that's true unless you work for EFG.
