Alternatively, you could send money to yourself using paypal ...
And give them around 5% in commission? NEVER!

Norwegian banking laws?
This appears to be it, but I am not 100% sure.

Re: My small plan to bring some savings to CH

Okay then, you have to make up your own mind but I can tell what I would do if it was me. I would convert NOK to CHF and transfer that to my Swiss Bank since the bank in Norway says they will do this free of charge. Over the short term, in terms of FX risk CHF vs Euro, the trend is your friend if you stay in CHF. Once you've done that, you decide whether to keep it in CHF or FX some into Euro. Or you could half and half etc.
Whatever you do, good luck!

Re: My small plan to bring some savings to CH

Thanks Nev.

The thing is that I want to get rid of the Norwegian crowns, which I never will need anymore. Now the exchange rate NOK-EUR is good, not so much the NOK-CHF.

Also the Italian bank confirmed that they won't take a commission in receiving the money. So, the transfer NOK-EUR will be completely free, except for the exchange rate.

No, they just have this rule that (at least manually from their website) can only buy one currency depending on the country where you send the money.
Why cannot you open an account in EUR in Norway and then transfer the money in your EUR account in CH ?

Oh well, I don't live there anymore and I'd rather close the account I have rather than open a new one
