AHV returned?

I am a Canadian citizen, working in Switzerland on internship for one year. I am curious if anyone has experience getting their AHV pension payments returned/transferred when they leave the country???

I pay nearly 200CHF a month into two separate pensions. That adds up over 12 months. I had no problem getting one of the two pension I was paying into returned. Now just need to sort out the AHV.

thanks

Re: AHV returned?

I talked to a friend tonight and he told me he was able ti withdraw his AHV after moving back to Vietnam. He said they told him to wait for 1 year before he can withdraw it.

AHV is partially returned if you move back to a country with which Switzerland has no social security treaty.

My impression is that Canada has a treaty with Switzerland. Hence, you might not get your AHV refunded. You would however get a Swiss pension when you retire.
