Being married to a Swiss will mean you avoid Quellensteurer (which is basically the same as the UK's PAYE (pay as you earn)).

From what I can make out paying Quellensteuer puts one at quite a disadvantage, as so many things can be claimed on the Swiss tax form - I even clain CHF500 for filling it in...
There's nothing to stop you filling in an additional tax return and claiming those same 'many things'.

Re: Tax - deducted from monthly salary?

I have an additional question relating to this tax that is taken monthly. I will only be working for 4 months this year in Switzerland. Does that mean that Some of the tax that is automatically deducted from my monthly salary will be returned to me, since my total income for the whole year of 2010 will be less than the income if I had worked for the whole year? I am assuming that the monthly tax deducted from my salary is based on my yearly salary.

Yes. You should fill out a return and get a rebate.

That's not usually the case. QST is calulated on a monthly basis with the rate determined by a retrocalculation from month 1 combined with a foecast to month 12 to estimate your annual salary. Actually very simple as tables are provided with all the calculations done for you.

As you say, the tables are predicated on 12 months employment.

If, for example, you get paid a 13th month payment in one one month, you'll pay more QST on it than you would if it was paid over two months.

I'm not sure what this 13th month payment is, but I'm assuming that either way, as long as they use an estimate of what my total income for 2010 will be then this 12 or 13 month deal will probably only affect my taxes by a bit, and it could be more of a hassle to do the taxes just for an additional few francs?

Thanks for the help,
Andrew

Which is probably a poor assumption.

If your 13th month payment or bonus is paid early in the year, which is typical then you are punished quite heavily for a couple of months because of it, particularly if your income is in the 4-6K per month bracket. If you already earn 15K per month then you can afford the difference which will anyway be much smaller.

Which is probably because you owned a house here, which is the typical reason for not paying along with being married to a Swiss or C permit holder.
Nope. Never owned a house nor married to a Swiss.

Edit: explanation required - I simply asked at my (SG) tax gemeinde if I had to pay QST and they gave me the choice. Simples.

Technically you should do a tax return even if you are paying at income tax at source. This is because Swiss tax covers ALL overseas assets as well as the "wealth tax" (i.e. if you have a lot of cash you get taxed on this too).
Is this correct that if we don't ask to fill a return tax we don't have to declare the money we have on accounts in other countries ? Or are you saying I should do a return just to declare it ? Are we vs the Swiss law if we don't do this?

Re: Tax - deducted from monthly salary?

Till now I thought that with B permit I have to pay quellesteuer, but I found out here that when married to Swiss i do not, but we have to pay it together on the end of the year, correct?

Does anyone know how will it look like. Will we have separate amounts, or it will be one amount for both?
