Re: What interest rate you got for mortgage ??

1.8% is VERY good! Take it.

I'm not going public, but that's better than ours
We have split

7 years 60%
4 years 20%
2 years 20%

I think Comparis just compare the quoted rates - banks will often (usually?) offer a better rate in personal negotiation

Yes - we got offers for between .4 and .7 % off the publicised interest rates on the bank's website. Comparis also only compares those companies that pay them their fees and rank other companies unfavorably, even when they are cheaper.

Swis LIBOR really dropped in the last weeks & is now circa 0.09.

Variable mortgage rates are around 1.1% to 1.2% depending on what sort of deal you can get.
Currently mortgage rates are forecast to rise starting (probably) 2011 so myself I would be tempted to fix for more than 5 years depending on the fixed rate offered & what I thought interest rates could look like in 4, 5, 6 years.

Re: What interest rate you got for mortgage ??

A colleague with good connections recently fixed for 10years at 2.19%. Why you would want to take a 5yr fix (when the curve is so flat and the consensus is for euroland inflation which lead to higher rates here too) is something you should consider. Personally I have remortgaged and in euros recently with the aim of borrowing for as long as the banks are prepared to lend for. The only reason I would consider 5yrs is if I knew I had a chunk of cash due then and had a good reason to use that cash to pay down the maturing mortgage debt, otherwise a long fix and letting inflation do it's work. Lots more upside to fixing for a longer period right now as the premium to borrow over longer terms is quite tame..

Shove,
what bank was that? Its not possible to find such a rate with 10y fix or even bit close to that. There is the best offer from Post with 2.8%.

You should not take their published rates too seriously

We already went to Post and Raiff and they told us that the rates on the internet is already too low. So they cannot decrease them..
Do you have another experience?

It is all negotiation.

They all offer rates lower than their published rates - it is called competition.

Ask around.

The more you can show that you don't need a mortgage the more they are willing to negotiate
