Hi,
Question is if it is possible to get a bank loan from credit suisse on a 5 year B visa, I have a good salary and a permanent job. I've been with Credit suisse for a year now and am aa EU citizen.

oh sorry I should have also included that the amount you apply for will be reviewed in relation to your salary. The best course of action to take is to go to your branch and have a chat with a personal banker. They will be able to tell you how much you may be able to apply for as they will have all your information on record.

Credit suisse makes consumer type loans through their Bank Now facility. Usually these loans are paid back over 5 years. If your profile meets their requirements then I imagine it would work. Good luck.

80 K would do it, but I don't see how Migros would accommodate me as a foreigner whilst I've been banking with Credit Suisse ?

nothing changes if you are already customer of cs.

I guess another question to ask yourself is whether you are planning to remain in CH for the full term of a loan and if not, how you are going to repay the lump sum when you leave.
Personally I would be very loath to take out a loan which you then lend on to someone else - are they 110% reliable? Are you *really* prepared to take on their risk if they can't get the money in their own name?

I am sure you have already thought this through. But I would seriously recommend you think it through ONE more time and explore ALL other opportunities. Taking out a unsecured loan of that magnitude to help a friend with a problem and there by exposing your self to both repayment risk potential fx risk is no laughing matter.

I have thought of doing something similar, but to get rid of a UK Mortgage.
My Main worry is, that for CHF 75000, I would commit myself to pay CHF 1441 per month, and that is a huge chunk of money each month.
If you loose your job, your monthly income will go 30% down
Can you afford to go 30% down, and at the same time increase your monthly fixed costs by CHF 1500 ?
Doc.

Thanks you all for your advice , actually the loan will secure me with a 40% interest in a property so I think it's a good investment as prices in Ireland are at there lowest at the moment ... will speak with the bank and take it from there..

Doc. | | | | | If that's your key concern, you can get insurance from the bank when you take out the loan. I forget what it's called, but there's an option to take out protection against making the payments while you're unemployed.
