hi, i want to import a sofa set from india, and i want it transported through a ship to switzerland. can anybody tell me is it possible to import heavy furniture for personal use from asia through ocean frieght and also how much tax would i have to pay on the item?? i think i would have to pay a big amount, if anybody could help me in this regard i shall be grateful...thanks

Customs charge per weight - Leather furniture could be expensive. VAT (7.5%) is per CIF, costs including transport and insurance. I suggest you ring the customs people and ask, I've always found them very helpful.
