Germany or Basel, Tax and Financial

Hi guys,

I have a job offer for 5000CHFx13 in Basel. I am 26years old and will be living alone. Won't live a fancy lifestyle. Just need a small place to crash. Will mostly be out of town on the weekends anyway.

Where would I have more money at the end of the month. If I live in Basel or Germany?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Leon

If you find a cheap place to crash during the week, and have a car for mobility, Germany would give you more cash at hand....not considering taxation agreements between Germany and Switzerland. Just my opinion, much depends on details nevertheless.

In your situation I would recommend you "Weil am Rhein" or "Lörrach", because of the flat rates. But there are areas in Basel, where you can get appartments for a reasonable price as in "Kleinbasel or Gundeli"

What would keep me from living in germany and working in Basel is the super-long traffic jam at the swiss border that I noted when I crossed it in the other direction (around 8.30). Don't know about the trains though, might be easier.

Hi,
My wife had a flat on the edge of the red light district in Kleinbasel for years. Central, cheap and also suprisingly quiet excluding the Fasnacht period. Her "working girl" neighbours always gave a cheery wave.
