Student part-time work tax

Hi,

I've moved to Switzerland as a student. My course lasts for two years and is a part-time masters. I have some questions about tax. I do a bit of freelance graphic design and in the UK it would not come to more than the yearly tax free allowance which is £6,475.

I have no idea what to do about tax. I presume I should tell HM Revenue that I'm now in Switzerland. But because I'm a student, only here for two years is this necessary?

Should I now be taxed by Switzerland? All the work I get will most likely be from the UK. Does Switzerland have a tax free allowance like the UK?

I've applied for my permit but not sure if it will be L or B.

Sorry about the number of questions but I really can't find answers to them anywhere else online.

Thank you

Re: Student part-time work tax

The only thing I know is you're taxed in the country where you live the majority of that calendar year. However I've heard of cases of double taxation. If your plan is to keep on working for UK clients while living in CH, the question might be more complicated to answer here. I've seen threads by freelancers who work for foreign clients, maybe they could shed some light...
