Re: Pancake day yay! [2011]

Pancake Day might actually be my favourite day of the year! I have been known to host a pancake party which included for starter: pancakes stuffed with ham and cheese; main course: a chicken and artichoke pancake bake; and dessert: pancakes with chocolate sauce and ice cream, or the traditional lemon and sugar....YUM.

No party this year unfotunately. Just me and OH stuffing ourselves with pancakes on our own

Where is that in London? The guy second left obviously has more than a fondness for them!
Hampstead (King William IV pub). Always a queue for their crepes/pancakes.

The kids will be having the cheap version of that, Nuttella . Although I will be having the classic lemon and sugar can't beat it!

Get a big slab of OK- brand milk chocolate instead. It's 1chf, large, good quality and tastier than nutella when put in a pancake and into a gentle oven for a few minutes.

What's your topping for pancake day??

I'm a traditionalist - for Shrove Tuesday, it simply has to be freshly-caught Shrews

You cannot be serious ... surely??!!

Funny, I thought it had the NW London feel - I used to live not far from there but don't actually know that pub (or creperie).

Well you probably have the Muswell Hill and parts North (rather than NW) feel. I am an "Edgware branch of the Northern Line kind of guy".

Don't want to labour this point, but me too! I used to live in Hampstead Garden Suburb and used to frequent the Wells, the Holly Bush and, occasionally, The Flask!

Sorry, back onto pancakes. Just off out to buy some lemons

Is there any other food that we put lemon juice and sugar on together ?

Embarrassingly I've been thinking about this for a while and I've come up with lemonade!

Perhaps even more embarrassingly, so was I, but I came up with Tom Collins

Frosting on a lemon sponge cake:
Mix sugar with lemon juice and pour it over the cake.

Zum guten glück serves pancakes (aka crepes) all day every day. Love the place, even though it is like the hipster mother-ship.
