Re: Cheddar Cheese in COOP?

When we lived in Germany I would buy aged Gouda, which seemed to give us an adequately similar taste. But good, aged Gouda doesn't seem to be too obvious to find around here either.

Not an answer to your question but cheddar should be available to all cheese lovers. If you live in Basel you canfind it in Manor or if you shop ovef the border in France at Super U in Sierrentz.
E leClerc has recently (~6 months that I know of) had a proper small farmhouse cheddar available on their cheese counters, either the whole round (~2kg) or in pieces. Really very good. Seen it at several branches including Hirsingue and Rond Point (St. Louis).

Carrefour Ile Napoleon always have two, one farmhouse vintage and one red variety, on their fresh cheese counter, and usually have one, sometimes two, varieties of Cathedral City on the pre-packed shelf.

Re: Cheddar Cheese in COOP?

Today I went to two cheese shops in central Neuchatel (well, one cheese shop & one "gourmet" shop). Both has cheedar and stilton as well as other goodies. One looked like a dark aged Gouda. But I didn't check the label on that one.

So, my suggestion: check also the small cheese/gourmet shops. You might be surprised.

I do remember that Globus had this really yummy whisky cheddar.

I bought too much cheese today.
