During the periods when there is one of these offers running, you get one sticker for every 10 CHF you spend. Normally the cashier won't give them automatically but will ask you if you want them. You stick the stickers on a card (which the cashier will also give you) and, once the card is full, you can use it to get a big discount on whatever the current offer is. Usually there is one "big" item for which you need two cards, and a number of smaller items that you can get with one card.

The offers run two or three times a year, for couple of months each time. The kind of items on offer varies from one offer period to the next.
Thanks for that. So if I had asked for stickers every time I checked out up to today, I'd have myself a bunch of stickers, right? I've shopped at Coop several times, and don't recall even once being asked if I wanted anything but the receipt (or if I had a Supercard).

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

The deals look really good but be aware that you are not getting the same quality as you would with their normal lines.

WMF, Villeroy and Boch and Grundig have the same type of promotions with Real in Germany. Spend money in the shop, collect stamps, redeem full cards to purchase item at a discount.

There was a news story done on this a couple of years back in Germany where they documented that the quality of production was not even close to the items sold in their normal shops and authorized dealers. In some cases the products were not even made at authorized factories but these companies licensed their brands to be put on products they have never sold in their standard lines.

From a brand management perspective, I continue to be puzzled over the short term thinking of licensing brands promoted to be higher end on lower quality just to make a bit on royalties.

As long as you know that you're getting C, D or E grade quality and it fits your needs, and you would be spending your money in Coop anyway, sure it can be an ok deal.

I've bought V&B towel sets and one of those Grundig press grills through the Real promotions, I got exactly what I was expecting so no complaints

Yes... I'm not sure yet exactly what they ask you in the German-speaking part, having only just moved here. In Suisse romande the cashier usually asks "Voulez-vous les points ?"

Funnily enough the receipt question seems to be a Swiss German thing, I don't remember ever being asked that in Neuchâtel, but in Zug I get it every time.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

Hi
We bought the grill with our coop vouchers. Looked very substantial and the grill plates could go in dishwasher.
Not a patch on our (broken) George Forman. Plates took hours to clean, even after (1) handwash then (2) dishwasher (not exactly non stick) so would def need to spray them with oil prior to use and fat did not runaway.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

We've had the same problem. Went to my local Coop and complained. They gave me a replacement but would not refund. I don't think I will be buying anything again through these promos.
