Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

The Coop's latest promotion is for Grundig kitchen appliances: mixers etc. Has anyone any experience with any of these? Even after collecting a page or two of stamps, they're not that cheap (of course the reductions from the "usual" prices are amazing!).

These Coop promos are often pretty good - the Sigg saucepans a few years ago were brilliant although more recently I haven't been tempted. But I didn't realize Grundig made kitchen stuff and the mixer in the promo isn't even on their website.

Any ideas?

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

Collecting stamps myself for them. They are actually pretty good price for the similar stuff for sale in Switzerland (kitchen appliances are quite expensive here). And they look rather pretty

I've had a Grundrig mixer for 4 years now, and it's quite good, though a different model.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has tried hand-held mixer and the blender jug, which of the two is better for making soups.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

Grundig has never been a household appliance company. After they went bankrupt, different companies bought licenses to put the name on their cheap Chinese or Turkish (TVs) products.

By my experience I would say the hand-held mixer is better for making soups simply because you could use it right on the hot plate but the blender jug have its own pros, it is much more powerful and can blend almost anything. I am thinking of buying one myself soon.

hand held is safer with hot soup which can strangely really expand when blended in a jug when its hot: never figured why. In a professional kitchen this is called a soup gun

Jug is definitely smoother finish if you are going for velvet texture

There were some other branded saucepans available recently and they were definitely a special for Co-op as they did not feature on the pan company's website at all -everything else on the website was much better.

They were definitely not a bargain.

Hi again, I just collected the hand held mixer and it comes with all sorts of toys: a plastic jug, a whisk end and a small bowl suitable for chopping herbs, pate, baby food etc. Seems great value

Yes, I got it last week. I've only used the main part of the tool so far (for soup), the other little accessories are a nice bonus, and probably sufficient for someone like me who only needs to whisk eggs a couple of times a year.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

I got the mixer set from the Coop trophy a few years ago, it was a Kuhn Rikhon promotion then, but it looks practically identical the the Grundig version...most of the set is still working but the connection between the bowl and mixer wore out very quickly (teeth made of plastic rubbish) shame as it was great for making smoothies. I tried the website to get a replacement and there was the problem, the item was not part of their stock and had never been. So what happens if you need a replacement on the big mixer?? Expensive problem! I agree with the other posts, they seem like good offers but apart from the pans, that I got several years ago and are fab, I'm afraid you're getting what you actually pay for and not the higher 'before' price!! Just clever marketing. This said, have a good look, check the connecting bits on the mixer, if they look ok then give it a go..I loved my mixer set, until

I got that Kuhn Rikon mixer and also had problems. Although it still works, a couple of little things have gone wrong with the mixer (for example, I have to hold the lid down in "closed" position to mix or blend anything as the lock no longer works). It wasn't a very good buy, which is one of the reasons why I am replacing it with the simple hand blender from the new offer.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

When I picked up the small book that details the products one can get for the coupons collected, they had a nice compact food processors on the flyer (not the kitchen aid styled, this one looked like it is more chopping, dicing and shredding).
But this product is not listed on the website and it is not on display in any of the coops, did anyone else see this product one display.
Will post a pic in the evening.

There is a notice in our coop saying that due to supply issues this item will not be available for the start of the promotion but they will be receiving supplies soon.

Re: Coop - Grundig kitchen appliance promo

The food-processor only has 450W.
Better save the money and invest in a Bosch MUM8x appliance...

Everything that is available through some "trophy" can probably be had at an IKEA for the same or a lower price.

I was looking into getting the stand mixer as well, as I finally got tired of not using our US Kitchen Aid as lugging it and the adapter out was too much effort. However, I am thinking of getting something a bit more versatile, we like the Bosch MUM 6n21 - you can get all sorts of accessories for it, and we like the design. You can get the same model at Amazon.de for 245€ or so, but I am not sure if you then need an adapter for the cord, and also, is a warranty still valid if you buy in Germany for use here? Probably, but I wasn't sure...

That item has previously been opened.
But still, it's probably the price Coop pays for the items... ;-)

The warranty might have to be claimed in Germany - i.e. the thing will have to be sent-in to a German "repair-center"...

As for adapters - they can be had at any German electronics-store across the border for (I guess) 1 or 2 Euros.

The 6N21 does look nice - and it's only half the weight of a MUM86 ;-)
(but the MUM86 has 50% more engine output...)
