Best Fondue restaurants in Zurich?
And not the tourist catering ones.

Chasalp
http://www.chaesalp.ch/

The BEST fondue I've had in Zurich, and the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended, and very few tourists around, well, at least the last time I went!

Re: Fondue places

Cheese Fondue? [where to eat it in Zurich] is just one of a few threads (like Good place for a Fondue around ZH) which might give some pointers on fondue in Zurich.

In the city proper, or are you willing to venture out?

Re: Fondue places

I usually go to the Fondue-Zelt in Winterthur, the time is near!

http://www.fonduezelt.ch/

I quite like their cheese fondue, but as it is with cheese fondue, I can only have it once every other month or so... it's gut busting!

Re: Fondue places

chasalp is defintely recommended.

If you're after something really small and cozy try Paul's Chäs Stübli in Oerlikon.

Re: Fondue places

thanks for all the replies.

I was hiking up Üetliberg in the summer...well more like a quick walk, and reached this point called Utoqulm..could be the wrong spelling..any how, great view over the city and a nice lunch.

I wonder if anyone ever had fondue up there in this weather.
If so, was the view and the cheese good?
worth it or a hel no?

This place is the bomb !!!

Take Tram 2,3,8,9,14 to "Stauffacher"
Walk towards Helvitiaplatz (direction tram 8)
It's about the first corner, and one street back.

It has a Brown sign with yellow writing.

Order a good Dry Swiss white wine to go with the Fondue

I had dinner at the Berggasthaus Uto Staffel on the Üetliberg, maybe you're referring to that one?

I didn't find the fondue so spectacular... it was too liquid (or maybe I was doing it wrong). Anyway, I prefer the thicker home-made one

My limited German indicates it's closed for lunch at weekends - is that right? Shame as I'm looking for somewhere to take my daughter for fondue in Zurich for Sunday lunch. We were going to go on the Schaffhausen fondue boat trip on Friday night but it's too risky her flight/train will make it up here on time.

Yep, sorry.

I guess you are confined to Niederdorf for weekends....... but Sunday "anything" is difficult.

There is one in Niederdorf which is good, and it's not that wretched place along the main drag.

It's tucked back away from the ramble, but I can't remember where it is. It's also very good.

Whatever you do, don't go to the one on the main tourist strip.

Re: Fondue places

Fondue at the sihlcity .... intriguing setting! The fondue may be good, but eating a fondue amid the glut of shopper ...... maynot be everyone's cup of tea
