tip: Finding (cheap) ethnic food ingredients in Zürich

I'm someone who loves to cook ethnic foods (arab, indian, mexican, african) and do most of my shopping in the Josefstrasse in Zürich (heard a lot of complaints regarding the pricing and selection at Migros/Coop). I think it's a good tip if you want to find cheap fish, cheap lamb-chops, hummus, fruit and veg, and hard to find ethnic herbs and spices. Start at the mexican shop (El Maiz) near the Hauptbahnhof, and walk all the way till you get to the Quellenstrasse, on this stretch you will find:
1. A Mexican supermarket where you can get tortillas, hot sauces, mole, jell-o, cheddar cheese, Old El Paso products, Tequilas, Mexican beer, Salsa dips, they even sell piñatas.
2. The EGE Turkish supermarket with baklava, hummus, cheap lamb-chops and assorted non-pork meats, turkish breads, and cheap fruit and veg.
3. The Indian supermarket with cheap (!!) fish, okra, plantains, and anything indian, but strangely they don't carry naan bread (?).

There are a few other shops on this street, but I think these three are worth checking out.

Just a tip from one cooking freak to others, bon appétit !

Cool. Surprised about the naan breads though...

Anyone seen any Chinese supermarkets or anything along those lines in Zurich, or thereabouts?

Strangely, my local Migros started carrying Naan bread about a week ago. Asian supermarket is called Thanh Hung, Wehntalerstrasse 280. You need bus 32 or 62 to get there is you don't have a car.

Don't forget the Asian market at the beginning of Josefstrasse as well as the small one in the HB (convenient as it's open on Sundays). There is also a Hungarian grocery store on the corner of Hegibachstrasse and Forchstrasse.

Wow, sounds good. All I need now is to move somewhere with a kitchen...

There's a chinese supermarket just by Berninaplatz, Oerlikon (by no 10, 14, tram stop). I've never been in, but keep on meaning to check it out.

the shop in Bernina platz is good, there's also a good asian supermarket right next to Bahnhof Oerlikon, by platform 6

there's a thread dedicated to ethnic supermarkets if you do a quick search
