Elusive Quorn!!

OK so I have checked out the threads about where to get Quorn but I can't find any at all. I have tried Migros and the Coop but no success.

I am after the mince stuff that I use for making chili or lasagne. Can anyone help at all? I have also tried Hieber and Intermarche/Leclerc but couldn't find anything there either....

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

Look in the chiller cabinets with pizzas and fresh pasta. There is usually a couple of rows of quorn and other veggie stuff off to the side.

Alternatively, you could just ask in the shop. I think Quorn is pretty much the same in French, German and Italian.

Thanks, I was thinking I could just ask but I would prefer to take the easy option first!

I have looked before but not found anything but will look again more intensely as it's clearly there and I am clearly not looking properly...

Try Marktkauf across the border...really nice selection of vegan stuff.

The Quorn stuff here goes by the name of Delicorn and you should be able to find it next to the sushi. (don't ask)

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

This issue has been raised a few times before on this forum, but I realise the search function is not what it used to be, so here goes.........
The Quorn available here (which is very similar to products found in the UK, i.e. mince, sausages, chicken-style pieces) is available in Migros, however I realise one might need to visit a larger store to find this. It is certainly available in Oerlikon, Zurich. Coop stocks Delicorn, however as a word of warning, I found it to be rather inedible.....I once attempted to make a Shepherds Pie using the mince and found it to be too salty and tasted like a good few tbsps of msg/Aromat had been added. This might be to your taste though, whatever floats your boat......

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

I don't know if it still is the case, but for many years Migros was the exclusive Quorn retailer in Switzerland. There are several quorn threads on EF, just do a search.

Our little Migros in our little town always has quorn somewhere in a corner of the meat section. The only version I buy is the plain cutlets. You can use them for just about everything, even for a Zürigschnetzlets that may deceive even a seasoned Zürcher. I can easily live without all the other fancy varieties.

LiB, the Delicorn line at Coop has nothing to do with Quorn. It's tofu-based stuff. I think, with it's pretty misleading name it tries to fool gullible Quorn lovers.

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

Migros at Basel SBB have a large selection. Coop in Frenkendorf/Fullinsdorf have a big selection, as does the Migros there too.

Hiebers have tofu in the prepared salad section (near the entrance in the Rheinfelden branch ..go figure!)

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

Quorn always seems to be near the chilled pizza's in the Migros stores near me. I would always choose the quorn from Migros over the coop delicorn stuff, the veggie mince there looks and tastes weird

I've seen it in many, many, many migros. Look again in the refrigerator section near the meats

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

I've seen Quorn in several Migros in Zurich. What I am struggling with is finding something that is Vegan (Quorn is not). As far as I can see Migros does not sell Tofu - anyone know where I can get it?

Re: Elusive Quorn!!

I have a Quorn story! Still annoys me to this day ...

I went to University in Loughborough, a small "market" town near Leicester. Loved it. Lived in a self-catering block on campus and - as now - spent lots of my time buying food and cooking.

I was in Sainsbury and saw a new thing. Quorn pie. Being a Londoner, and knowing that the town of Quorn is next to Loughborough (and was famous for its fox hunting) I excitedly bought the pie expecting it to be some local delicacy. A huge meaty feast.

What I can tell you is ... 20 years ago Quorn microprotein was very, very bad.

My local Migros in Basel sells a few different tofu products, they were just next to the Quorn selection. Only been in town a few weeks so not tried them yet though.

I also found the Quorn mince in Migros too, hiding in the corner next to a row of meat products I must say the range was great.
Good luck with your search!
