The Zürich Wine Ships

Hey all,

Does anybody know when the wine ships are in this year?

And when they come, who fancies hopping aboard to get aquainted with (vast amounts of) the local wines?

Try setting it up as an EF event. You may attract more interested parties that way.

Enjoy the experience when you do go!

Just arrived yesterday in Zurich. How does this event work? Do you pay an entrance fee and if so how much? Once you are in do they charge per taste or anything like that? We're used to the pay one price for entrance and that's the only cost. However, a visit to Canada was quite different. Free admission but pay different prices based on which wines you tasted.

Guess I'll answer my own post in case anyone is interested. 20 CHF to get in for the day. You can enter free with a ticket you might have gotten from a wine shop or between the hours of 11:30 and 12:30 to have lunch. The tastings start at 1 PM.

m509272, would you please update the location in your profile? You've admittedly been here already four days but it still says Northern NJ, US. You have been on EF long enough to know that such behavior is not tolerated in Swiss -- oops -- Switzerland.

Ok, just teasing. Welcome to this hellhole of pedantic grumps. Hope you brought your ****** [terms like "brown sugar" get deleted by the automatic swear word guard of the forum server, so please insert whatever you like].

Oh, and thank you for the info!

Re: The Zürich Wine Ships

Actually, it runs from the 3rd - 17th November.

We went on Saturday around 1pm and it was lovely and quiet - the rest of Zurich seemed to be shopping and only poured in around 4pm. By that time, we were suitably merry after discovering many little gems of Swiss vineyards and stocked our cellar for the next year!

If there are any fans of Riesling, pop over to the Zweifel stand (the Swiss wines one) and ask for the Riesling Silvaner Remingen. Won the best Riesling in Switzerland this year and for 14chuffs a bottle, its very yummy.

20CHF will get you in and its free to try any wines that catch your fancy. Being charged per tasting is for the whisky ships which will happen soon as well (oh-oh).

Re: The Zürich Wine Ships

Our invitations have started flooding in from the companies we have purchased wine from in the past. We've never paid in years.

I've always thought that this thing would never work back home. A one off entrance fee and all you can drink. I guess that's why there are so many security guys there. Enjoy!
