I just know the yellowish "Leinsamen" or according to google "seme di lino" in Italian. Golden linseed would be "Gold-Leinsamen" or "seme di lino d'oro". Judging by the pictures on google I suspect the yellowish linseed sold in any bigger supermarket is the same.

Semi di lino, you should find them in any organic store, or in the very big supermarkets in the healthy food/health supplements section (rather than in the grains section). Another option would be to go to an erboristeria (Google translate tells me "herbalist" but it sounds odd...), I'm pretty sure they have them.

I bought a bag of Linseeds in Migros (Besso) this week. They had two different types, the whole ones and the ones which had been partly ground and are digestable. There were with the sunflowers seeds etc, next to the breakfast muesli.
