Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

Hello, I'm new to Lausanne? Does anyone know where I can buy frozen yogurt to take home and/or eat out? Someone mentioned Migros is another post. I looked in my local store, but did not see it. Would it be called "yogurt congelado?" Thanks for your help.

Hi NEiSuisse,

What is your local store?

Maybe try Globus in the town centre. They have specialty products.

Re: Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

It wouldn't be "yogurt congelado" because that's Spanish.

Try yogourt glacé or glace yogourt.

Re: Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

When I lived in California, what you lot call frozen yoghurt, was just like normal ice cream to me - I really couldn't notice any difference - not even a hint of sourness.

Just another self justification of pseudo healthy eating, typical of the colonialists.

For the genuine article, buy flavoured yoghurt of your choosing, stick a lolly stick through the foil lid and bung in the freezer for a couple or so hours - that is proper frozen yoghurt, and not fancy ice cream hiding behind another name.

[let the barrage begin]

There is one place in Nyon, near to the lake. The best I had here in Switzerland, and it is just a short bike ride from Lausanne.

Re: Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

The other option is to buy an ice cream maker and make your own, frozen yogurt is very easy to make, also when not making frozen yogurt or ice cream with the ice cream maker you can use it to make frozen cocktails

Re: Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I love the ice cream maker idea. RetiredInNH - I am from the best state in New England, New Hamphire - mostly southern and as far West as Peterborough and as East as Portsmouth. TiMow. I have lived in California for the past 5 years, so I have grown to love soft frozen yogurt (Yumi Yougurt, Yougurt Delight, Pinkberry, Wow Cow, etc), but I thinking finding soft frozen yogurt is expecting too much. At this point I would be happy with anything, especially a dark chocolate frozen yogurt.

Here's the recipe for choc fro-yo as they say in the article David Lebovitz is king. Might well make this one myself, but first I have to chocolate fruit and nut ice cream for my wife

Re: Frozen yogurt in Lausanne area?

Allow me to provide some input, basically you have two types, one where you pre-freeze the bowl and the other that has a built in chiller, they both work equally well, but unless you want to take up freezer space by having the pre-freeze bowl in the freezer the whole time you have to plan your ice cream making with the pre-freeze ones.

Of course there is a quite a big price difference between them I would guess about 100-150chf more for one that self chills. I would avoid the cuisinart ice cream professional as it is very noisy, I bought a UNOLD one in Germany when we lived in Luxembourg, pretty cheap, very quiet and still going strong 2 years later, I usually make a batch of ice cream a week.

For recipe books the two I use most are David Lebovitz: The Perfect Scoop, and Ben and Jerrys recipe book.

The final tip is when making ice cream once you've made the mix, let it rest overnight in the fridge.

My friend sent me this skit from the comedian Jeff Foxworthy. I thought you might like it.

You might be from New England if...

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance And they don't work there, you live in New England . If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, You live in New England . If you've... had a lengthy telephone conversation with Someone who dialed a wrong number, You live in New England . If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of New York City For the weekend, you live in New England . If you measure distance in hours, You live in New England . If you know several people who have hit a deer more Than once, you live in New England . If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the Same day and back again, you live in New England . If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a Raging blizzard without flinching, you live in New England . If you install security lights on your house and garage, But leave both unlocked, you live in New England . If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how To use them, you live in New England . If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a Snowsuit, you live in New England . If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph you're going 80 and Everybody is passing you, you live in New England . If driving is better in the winter because the potholes Are filled with snow, you live in New England . If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still Winter and road construction, you live in New England . If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, You live in New England . If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly', you live in New England . If there's a Dunkin Donuts on every corner, you live in New England . If you think everyone else has a funny accent, you live in New England . If you actually understand these jokes, and forward them To all your New England friends & others, you live or Have lived in New England."
