Need canned pumpkin for a Thanksgiving pie?

Globus on Bahnhofstrasse in Zuri has it. CHF 5.90 each.

Re: Need canned pumpkin for a Thanksgiving pie?

Um ... wouldn't pumpkin in its natural wrapping do? There are quite a few of them lying around at the moment -- 160,000 of them in Europa Park, for starters (which probably explains why it's closed for three weeks or so while they bulldoze all that rotting fruit outta there).

Or does the above post explain why you want the canned variety?

But yours is the "real McCoy," and the taste will be worth it. Have a great holiday.

Re: Need canned pumpkin for a Thanksgiving pie?

If you can't get canned, you gotta use small sugar pumpkins - other pumpkins are not the same and can't be used for pie. Just made one last night using 2 of them.

France has them in most grocery stores and farmers markets at the moment. I'd imagine the farmers markets would be the best bet in CH and Germany.

.
Quite on the contrary, there are other pumpkins than pie pumpkins you can use for a pumpkin pie.
But you can read the full thread on pumkin pies and pie pumpkins here:
Pumpkin Pie and Pie Pumpkin

BTW: I grew "Sweet Mama" this year and it turned out, you ONLY can use it for making sweet stuff, such as pumpkin pie. Unless you like sweet pumpkin soup... It's green on the outside with orange flesh and has a sweetish chestnutty taste. Really yummy.

Re: Need canned pumpkin for a Thanksgiving pie?

I would highly recommend you make the pumpkin filling yourself from fresh pumpkins. I feel it tastes a lot better and doesn't take a lot more effort.

However, if you're looking for the canned stuff, I saw some at the English bookshop on Bahnhofstrasse, Zürich this weekend. They also have a selection of other christmas goodies.
