Zimtsterne (Star Cookies) Baking Experts Needed!

These are my favorite holiday cookies --- I want to learn to bake them this year. I found a recipe that instructs you to frost the cookies (egg whites & powder sugar is the frosting) then let them sit for 5-6 HOURS to dry before you bake!?!?

So, I bought the Betty Bossi refrigerate dough at Coop and they do not tell you to wait 5-6 hours for the frosting to dry before you bake.

Any advice from the Zimtsterne baking experts? Wait to bake or just bake???

Is this Betty Bossi dough a special one for Zimtsterne?

Normally you let the stars rest with frosting for 5-6 hours or even overnight. I think this results in the cookies being soft when they come out of the oven.

you should anyway only eat the Zimtsternli 2 days after baking them, they are way to soft and goowey when they come out of the oven. They need to be hard and crunchy

Just don't get that Betty Bossy pre-prepared doughs personally

For me the whole point of baking your own is to prepare the dough with your own ingredients. Otherwise why not just buy ready made ones???
It's like buying a packet of ready made cake? Bizarre, lol.
