Looking for belacan

Hey all I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy some belancan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrimp_paste).
I tried looking for past threads and I only came across 2 threads where it was mentioned and both time it was mentioned by summerrain. As I understand it, summerrain makes her own. I'm looking for the ready made ones that come in blocks. I would so appreciate a heads up! Thank you in advance.

Try New Asia Market. They certainly have shrimp paste in jars, several varieties of, and quite likely in the blocks you're looking for too, although I've never noticed specifically.

Hi Tequila,

Yes they do have it. It's called Kapi (Thai) or Mam Ruoc (Vietnamese). I believe it's the same as blachan/belachan/terasi.

Go to their website > produkte > page 3 > fishsauce & shrimp paste.

If you click the link you'll see they have shops in both Zurich and Basel. It's the latter that I use quite regularly. Also the best place in town for fresh coriander and other essential ingredients.
