Open lid of jam jar

Hi everyone

I bought a jar of rhubarb jam at the Migros and now that I wanted to open it I found the lid is not sealed and it seems it was already opened - aren't these lids usually very hard to screw open because of the vacuum inside the jar? Can I eat this safely? Can I return it?

Re: Open lid of jam jar

I would return it. The vacuum seal is an indicator if it has been tampered with or not.

I had that happen a while back, I was too hungry and ate it anyway and am (arguably) fine .

But you should take it back.

Re: Open lid of jam jar

I think I did not keep the receipt, to be honest, I remember throwing it away immediately after the purchase...

Wait, I'll look for foreign bodies in it....
