| | | How can I mail order Texas BBQ to Switzerland
Missing the Texas ribs, smoked pulled pork and beef brisket....very badly. So badly I am willing to pay anything to mail order from the USA. Most only ship domestically only. Does anybody have any ideas or know of companies that ship finished BBQ products to Europe......or are such products available online from the UK; Germany or Switzerland.........PLEASE HELP.......I AM DYING HERE.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry, can't help - but intrigued! When you say "finished BBQ products", what exactly do you mean? Raw meat with marinades, rubs etc already applied and sent frozen?

Shipping meat products between countries? Very likely not possible. My dad tried doing that once and it got confiscated. Better check with the customs people about that.

Finished products means already smoked and cooked. They only need to be heated (I think). Perfect example: www.coopersbbq.com. God what I would do to sink my teeth................................

This is your chance to learn how to make them yourself and I bet you can do it better.
Check out allrecipes.com and just enter some of the dishes you are missing...you'll get tonnes of recipes, with users' reviews and tweaks. Pulled pork for example, is super easy to make...

Thank you. This is a common trend that I learned in Switzerland. Make it your self, cause you'll never find it in a restuarant. Since being here I have perfected my General Tsao Chicken, Pad Thai ... numerous other Asian dishes...now it is time to focus on the BBQ. Should have never went into Virgils BBQ last week when I was in NYC. Big mistake. Now I am really missing it. Thanks again.

My American cousin made us pulled pork over Christmas while we were in Payerne. Found all the ingredients at the usual places (Coop/Migros/Aldi). And it was very tasty. It has certainly not been all bad that I have learned how to cook a lot of new things since moving to Europe.

I have a smoker on my balcony, small but I can fit a small goat or pig, several racks of ribs, etc. One load of charcoal is good for 4-5 hours, and I add chips or wood for smoke.

Does anybody have any ideas or know of companies that ship finished BBQ products to Europe......or are such products available online from the UK; Germany or Switzerland.........PLEASE HELP.......I AM DYING HERE. | | | | | Welcome...Sorry man, I feel your pain....short answer is you can't. Generally speaking it is not possible to ship meat privately across international boarders, which includes ordering from a company. It's not just a Swiss thing, I found the same to be true when I lived in Germany.
Packing it into checked luggage is not legal but sometimes they will get through. Driving it across the boarder is also not legal but the success rate can be a lot higher.
There is an online butcher in Germany that sells briskets, porterhouses, prime rib roasts and a lot more (yes it is pricey), but the last time I checked they only ship within Germany. The quality and selection I've found to be worth the money for a special occasion. (Warning, get US prices out of your head and don't compare, you're not in Kansas anymore Toto) http://www.otto-gourmet.de
If you have a friend there who would take the package for you, you can make the trip by car and try to bring it back that way. But be warned if you're stopped and inspected it will be gone.
I've found a butcher here in Vevey where I have been able to order briskets, and the pork shoulders I get in Coop work just fine for pulled pork.
I'm working on a source for full beef ribs right now, including short rib cuts and almost have the guy convinced if I will buy a large quantity. If it works I could have some extra to spare | | This user would like to thank Dantesheaven for this useful post:

Making "Texas BBQ" requires things that can't be done and aren't available in Switzerland, such as a pit dug in caliche. The sauce is made with chile peppers grown in the Texas soil, and the fire is built using branches of mesquite trees to give it that unique flavor.
Of course, all of this is done while drinking a six pack of your favorite Texas beer. | | The following 4 users would like to thank KeinFranzösisch for this useful post:

Real Texas BBQ cooks all night. I promise you, if you are outside basting your meat at 3 in the morning, someone is going to call the cops on you.

I suspect though the Lone Star is an improvement on American Budweiser which is an insult to call beer.

You can get so many different good beers there now it's not funny. Kind of like any decent supermarket will have decent bread and it's easy to find all your free-range chickens and grass fed beef. You guys can help lower the shite beer to good beer ratio there by not selling Fosters anymore. Seriously, even you guys don't drink that. | | The following 8 users would like to thank phdoofus for this useful post:

You don't think the US has good beer... you must not have been there in the last 20 years.

Also, a goat or pig only take 5 hours or so.
Plus, I live on the top floor!

However, next week I'm heading to Bruxelles for three nights (work), now THEY have beer!
