Sugar paste?

I would love a good recipe for workable sugar paste so i can decorate my son's birthday cakes with something either than butter cream. I tried a few different recipes in the past but they either turned out too dry, unworkable, or worse, turned as hard as stone after 2 or 3 hours.

Failing a good recipe, a place in or around Basel were i can buy it ready made from.

Also, while we on the subject of decorating cakes, i not yet found a red food colouring that actually gives a red result, just varying shades of pink depending on how much colouring i use, any tips or recommendations?

Thanks in advance
Martha

www.back-art.ch is a great source of caking products.

I recently made this recipe, it was delicious and really easy. Very sticky but was better once I had the right amount of icing sugar added.
