personally I don't understand the food nuts going nuts over this...
ok, yes it's a bit disgusting and a sign of the west's obsession with food but this one diner is not going to change trends. (for good or bad)
This is one small diner in the middle of an industrial estate ( thank you streetView) that has found a way to garner a bit of publicity for themselves.

their sales will probably go up 500% this week and next week, or next month they will go back to serving a couple of pots of coffee and wondering where the tourists went.

Have to agree with you, its a great piece of marketing from the owner, national press, he could not buy that type of advertisement in a hundred years!

now then... on a more serious note.. Mrs. and I will be in England this coming w.e. ... I figure about 200 miles from there.

So if I get up at 6:00am and start driving I should just be able to make it for breakfast.

If I don't make it back you'll know I died happy and with a piece of bacon stuck in my back molar.

Okay, here I am, all "Pollyanna Sunshine" and thinking that really, that breakfast is mostly just something to get folks talking. Most people aren't ever going to eat it, many that do, will share it, and those who eat it without sharing (regardless of how long it takes them to pack it all in), will really not be likely to make a huge habit of it.

Sure, there will be some folks who eat it "regularly" but I imagine those folks are the same ones who think nothing of eating that much in one sitting already.


Being a big fan of breakfast foods (in more ways than one ), I'd much prefer to have an "All-American Slam" or a "Lumberjack Slam" type breakfast than all that salted meat. I also know that I can't finish those, let alone that huge platter, which is what makes me think that it is pretty much a "one off" thing for those who even bother to try it.

There was an article on cruise ship food in the latest Swiss K-Tipp consumer magazine.

One reader wrote in and they said that what they thought was disgusting (and what does not feature in Swiss eating), was that people would have plates piled really high with food and then only manage to eat some of it. The rest of course being binned.

There's a lesson here somewhere...

Ah... lack of personal responsibility again. If someone dies from eating that, then it's definitely the café's fault and not the idiot (who must already have serious health issues) who shovels such an enormous quantity of food down their face.

It's like saying bars should stop serving alcohol because of all the alcoholics in the world. Most people are capable of moderation, and a breakfast so extreme is quite obviously ridiculous. I would happily share it with a few friends (looking at the size of it, probably at least 5 other friends!).

Looks awesome, though.

Oh you want something with mushrooms, that's fine by me. We could do a balsamic chicken with mushrooms. Tell Betsy I'll saute the Mushrooms this time as last time, I didn't feel too good...and you're purple dinosaur tried to eat the gigantic poodle on the rooftop.
