Hi,
In Zurich, there's a Korean resturant called Yumi Hana, where the back of the store sells various Korean products. When coming from the Hauptbahnhof down Bahnhofstrasse you will see a Kaufmann butcher shop on the first street on the left. About two stores down to the left of Kaufmann's is the restaurant/store.

Yumihana is at Schützengasse 7. Tel. 044 211 57 57 Yumihana Map
From the Hauptbahnhof, walk one block down Bahnhofstrasse, then turn left on Schutzengasse. It's about 3 doors on the right.
The have the best Nori in town. It's toasted with sesame oil and seasalt. But you'd have to hurry to buy them after each shipment, because I tend to hoard them.

If you are coming from Basel by car, they also have a store in Oberengstringen (near Zurich). If you plan to buy a lot, it's much easier than near the Hauptbahnhof since you can park right outside. You must call ahead though (just google K. Lee Trading and Oberengstringen) since it is also a house. Also, it's good to call to know when they have certain items that go quickly, like Kimchi.

While on this topic; if anyone comes across a real korean restaurant that "hits the spot", please post it. Oftentimes, the restaurants here are watered down for the locals.
I always have to laugh about it. In the summertime, Yumihana serves Naeng Myun. The locals almost always complain that the noodles are undercooked. So they sometimes overcooks it and rinses it in cold water. But it's not really Naeng Myun at that point.

| | | Re: Looking for korean shop | Quote: | | | | | Does anyone know a shop selling Korean food products (preferably around Basel or Zürich)? | | | | | Shoppi & Tivoli Shopping Center in Spreitenbach AG (15 min. from Zurich), if you click on "Geschäfte" then "Asien-Shop" you will come to a map which shows you exactly where it is located in the Tivoli side of the Mall. I'm pretty sure it is in fact a Korean shop and not a Thai / Chinese shop.
Their phone number is 056 401 31 19 if you want to call and ask first.

Does anyone know of any Asian grocery stores in Luzern (or Zug)? I need some lumpia wrappers (eggroll wrappers are okay too), but don't have time to trek up to Zurich. Thanks in advance!

There is an Asian market in Luzern on Hirschengraben, about one block from the Nespresso store, by the University.

I was able to easily find this place and now have some spring roll wrappers in my hot little hands. Let the lumpia wrapping begin!
They had a nice little asian vegetable section here, for those who are interested. There's also some good-looking take-away, as well as a small eating area in the back.

To add to the Asian shop list for Bern area:
A Châu Trading AG
Könizstrasse 221
3097 Liebefeld
031 971 38 71
You can get the long-life tofu in a vacuum pack from them cheaply. You have to ask for it though as they don't always display them. Lots of dried ****ake mushrooms etc. A bit of a chaotic store but I think their main business is to supply Chinese restaurants.

Lots of dried ****ake mushrooms etc. | | | | | This reminds me. I bought a large bag of dried Sheetake 'shrooms from a chinese store. When I soaked them, I can smell a faint gasoline like odor. I decided not to eat them. The ones at Coop are more expensive, but seems to be better vetted. Can anyone confirm anything similar?

Not the ones I have but your mileage may vary as they say. Some Chinese products can be very dodgy.

Has anyone tried Tab Tim Thai shop on Münstergasse in Bern???
I am looking for a certain Thai stock cube to make coconut soup. Recipe came from a native Thai so I am not going to mess about with it! I got it in the Thai store in Biel, but really cant be ars*d going all the way there to buy them again.
Tab Tim seems to be the only one I can find in the centre of Bern, but if you know of any other, point me in that direction. I found Globus had a few good bits but not everything i needed.
Thanks
N

Most of the Indian Grocery stores are located in the Servette Area. There is a Asia Spices right on the main road of Rue De servette. Madura is located behind the McDonalds, next to the entrance of the Migros parking lot. Steven shop is located in a small street exactly opposite the honda dealership in servette. There is another gorcery store named Multi Bazaar on Rue de Fribourg, near Gare Cornavin, behind the MCdonald. Good Luck with your stay in Geneva.

There is also this one, very famous locally and close to Cornavin. I think that the owner is originally from Sri Lanka: Éléphant Bazar - Alimentation Asiatique
2, rue de la Faucille - 1201 Genève
