I would think after all that, you'd have indigestion But, let's see how many calories we've got here:

1 takeaway Kebab: @ 2,000 cals (a day's caloric allowance for some)
2 cakes: @ 300 - 400 cals each, depending on what kind
1 large packet of crisps: @ 800 cals, assuming they're salt & vinegar
1 bar of chocolate: @360 cals, assuming it's a 100 g Lindt bar

All adds up to a whopping 3560 cals +/- and, factoring in drinks (beer, wine, soda), it could easily be >4,000

3500 calories = 1 pound of fat
..and that's just breakfast for Adrian. How does he do it?!

Re: Where to find Appetite Supressant shakes in CH

Thanks everyone who helped me about the shakes! As for the general advice on health and nutrition, I completely understand each post. But I'm looking to lose, not maintain right now, so I do have to do without what my body needs for a while which results in hunger. Just eating right isn't doing it for me, since I've never been a bad eater to start with. I think I've just reach an age in my 20s where things aren't burning the way they used to, and I realized this after gaining some weight.I'm not dealing with starvation or out of control hunger, but I am in a calorie deficit, which is damn hard to deal with! I've never had to watch my figure or anything before so a nice tasty shake loaded with some protein to stave off hunger through the day couldn't hurt. I already know about eating healthy but I don't want to be very hungry when it's dinner time or lunchtime or I will be more inclined to overeat! Anyway, I'll check out the websites some posters gave me. thanks all!

Yep, that works for me. I usually find after a takeaway kebab, a couple of cakes, a large packet of crisps and a bar of chocolate that I just don't feel hungry any more.

I also have a very strict "no food diet" which I go on in between meals and snacks.

I don't seem to be losing much weight though.
Jeez Adrian, you get any thinner and you need and airbag so as not to fall through the gratings over the drains.

The more money you can spend on weight-loss remedies, the more effective the results are perceived to be with less mental and physical effort involved.

I always thought that if you were trying to lose weight, you'd probably spend less money on food, not more.

But you are not to consume this 800gm in one sitting. One scoop serving is typically 20 grams of protein, which is ideal for a protein supplement. There is really no point in taking huge amounts all at once because our body can only process so much in one time, i’ve also heard recent studies that suggest the total amount per day is what counts.

So this 800gm of whey protein is equivalent to 40 days.

The Fitness Shop in Wiedikon (www.fitnessshop24.ch) is pretty good and has loads of supplements. I'd be pretty sure that you could get your appetite suppressors there.

Then eat an Apple before the meal and one after the meal.

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i...+an+apple+have

You won't get fat on apples, even if you don't go over-the-top with apples like Steve Jobs and his fruit-only diets...

Only eat two slices of bread for dinner.
Buy rye-bread in an organic shop or buy the rye-bread that Coop sells under its "slow food" label, also very good.
Eat a (green) salad to your dinner (prepare your own dressing).
Don't eat a warm meal for dinner.
Don't order pizza.

Don't buy convenience-food and ready-made lunches/dinners (too salty, too much fat usually). Prepare your own sandwiches.
Or buy them in the organic-shop - they are expensive but keep you full for hours.

Don't eat snacks, sweets, cookies, cakes. In fact, anything with processed sugar.
Buy 80% cocoa chocolate and eat that if you lust for something sweet.
Better, buy fruit (apples, grapes, oranges whatever) for the occasion that you feel you need a bar of chocolate.

Yes, it's all much work - but if it was all fun and easy, do you think the US would be in that situation: http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/trends.html
?
(Other countries are catching up, don't worry).

And, as said above: drink water!
Often (well, most always) when you feel that lust for a bar of chocolate or a Gipfeli or a piece of cake, the body just wants some water.

Make it a habit to have a 1l bottle of water on your table at work and empty it before lunch and another one after lunch.
You'll have to go to the loo more often, but getting up and not sitting on your ass all day is healthy, too!

Hi PErin,
I agree, choosing the right foods suppresses the appetite.... but next time you're in Zurich, check out the Reformhaus on Rennweg. Towards the back of the shop, there's loads of nutritional supplements and the woman behind the counter generally speaks good English to help guide you through the many options.
I've gotten a few things from them and have been very happy!

Re: Where to find Appetite Supressant shakes in CH

The best IMHO, as others mentioned too, is to drink copious amounts of water. No calories in there and it fills the stomach thus making your body think you are full. Drinking one or two glasses of water before a meal can seriously help one in avoiding eating too much. In the end though it is all about just doing it: exercose and eating right.

Fabulous post!

If you are trying to lose weight to quickly you'll just yo-yo up and down in the future. Just go easy and change your eating habits and you'll be hungry when you sit down to eat and not overeat in general. You'll also enjoy your food more.
