| | | Where to find Appetite Supressant shakes in CH
Hello guys! I have been eating smaller portions and running a bit, but a friend recommended using appetite supressant shakes and a fruit for breakfast as a way to help fight hunger throughout the day. All that working out sure does make me want to eat six pizzas! haha.
Now the real mission starts: Does anyone know if diet shake mixes are sold in Migros or Coop? Any specialty stores for health that might carry shake mixes with appetite supressant ingredients? My german is terrible and I would have no way of knowing whether they are just a regular shake mix or what I am looking for. If not, I suppose I'll be shipping them here for a hefty price I'm sure. But any help fellow EF members could give would be greatly appreciated!! |

The Coop website has nothing, as they want to sell us more food!
Years ago there was a German product, sold only in pharmacies, maybe you can ask there,
French "suppresseur de l'appétit" or German "Appetitzügler"

Try 100% Whey Protein shakes.
You can get a large bag of the powder quite cheap (in various yummy flavours) which will last ages.
cheers

Imho the best appetite suppressant is food. It's true that exercise can make you hungrier, which is why some people find they don't lose weight once they start exercising as they eat in a surplus.
I think it's more about choosing the right combination of foods that gives you a reasonable level of satiety and fullness. Not sure if you want to post a typical day's food here and put it open to suggestions?

Thanks! So I would probably find this at a Migros or Coop? Do you know what it would be called or a brand I should try?

Just eat the right food at the right time.
Make sure you fuel correctly prior to - and after your workout - including plenty of fluids.
If you feel hungry, drink a glass of water. If you still feel hungry after 30mins, then eat a carrot.

No.
For the best price (and also loads of different flavours) you need to buy it online. www.bodybuilding.com is the best site for this.
If you are not a fan of online shopping then try at your local gym/fitness center.
cheers

I usually find after a takeaway kebab, a couple of cakes, a large packet of crisps and a bar of chocolate that I just don't feel hungry any more.
I also have a very strict "no food diet" which I go on in between meals and snacks.
I don't seem to be losing much weight though.

Do your exercise and eat healthily. The pounds will fall off. The best way to manage appetite is to eat low GI foods. A bowl of porridge oats or muesli for breakfast is natural, healthy, and will keep you full until lunchtime and beyond.
Looking for artificial appetite suppressants is a bad move. They will be full of chemicals for one thing, and second, all that happens is that your body will move into starvation mode and lower metabolism to preserve its fat stores - making it harder to lose weight. Once you stop taking the pills/shakes, you'll pile on the pounds as your body isn't accustomed to burning off the excess. It's evolution, baby!
Seriously, you can eat well and never be hungry as long as you avoid the obvious crap and exercise regularly to speed up the calorie burn.
I've been there and got the teeshirt -- which is now looking pretty baggy on me.

1 takeaway Kebab: @ 2,000 cals (a day's caloric allowance for some)
2 cakes: @ 300 - 400 cals each, depending on what kind
1 large packet of crisps: @ 800 cals, assuming they're salt & vinegar
1 bar of chocolate: @360 cals, assuming it's a 100 g Lindt bar
All adds up to a whopping 3560 cals +/- and, factoring in drinks (beer, wine, soda), it could easily be >4,000
3500 calories = 1 pound of fat | Quote: | | | | | I don't seem to be losing much weight though. | | | | | Jeeze, is it any wonder?? LOL

I usually order my protein powders from the US from iherb http://www.iherb.com/ and they ship to Switzerland for a flat rate of @ $4.00 for orders over $40.00, and it usually arrives in around two weeks.
My preferred protein powders are Solgar Whey or Nutribiotic rice protein.

| | | | | IMO, I think you're going around this in the wrong way.
Why are you trying to fight hunger? Why not embrace it as a feeling of anticipation of the food you're going to get at the next meal?
Let's face it, isn't it much better to face food with a feeling of hunger than a full feeling?
However, if you are eating the wrong foods in general then you're going to suffer from those sugar swings that make you feel dizzy with hunger. Best to avoid all those simple sugars in bread, cakes, chocolates etc and eat, as others have said, carrots etc. or only eat them as part of a meal.
Hunger pangs do come and go though and as long as you're eating enough food, and of the right sort, you're not going to be suffering from malnutrition and starvation.

On a slightly more serious note, hunger pangs can sometimes be satisfied with a drink, such as a cup of tea. Or chewing gum.
