What do you mean, 'finally' a good Swiss beer?
Three words for you: Rapperswil Beer Brewery!
And also Einsiedlerbier and Ittinger!

There are more contradictions there, like having words "American" and "great" in a sentence about beer...
You probably one of those people who say American's are ignorant too, aren't you?

Over the last 30 decades microbreweries have been founded everywhere. And as the OP refers to, the hoppy drinks (IPAs) have gotten very well-known. They are definitely my preferred.
That sure is a long time.

I've tried many of them on various stateside trips in the last few years, and can honestly say I've never found one I'd choose to drink. Basically, they're all served gassy and cold. Flavour is optional, but is as often too strong as not enough.

They all get you pissed, of course, but I just struggle to drink enough of them, so end up on the crappy lager types if I'm actually planning an evening's drinking, which is sad.

Re: Finally, a damn good Swiss beer.

I picked up a case of "brau" from the luzerne brewery in my last trip to Coop.

It was...unremarkable.

I guess we'll have to say different strokes for different folks.

While I do like many English Ales, sometimes it would be hard to tell whether they were poured 5 minutes ago or 5 days ago... JMO!

@Ace1 - Which brands/styles of beer do you like to drink that are not English?

Re: Finally, a damn good Swiss beer.

Various Duvels are equally as enjoyable as british beers, although for different reasons.

Some german beers are ok, though some are just ghastly.

And if I had to be sociable or owed the pourer a favour (ie he donated me his kidney), then there's the "consumer mainstream" US beers

Epic Beer is epic obviously. Tasmanian beer is great too. I ordered some Epic Beer from the UK :+ Most American beer I tasted is crap. But our 'famous' Heineken beer is total piss.

Heineken is the beer of Bond in Skyfall. And if that wasn't bad enough, it REPLACES his Vodka Martini.

Epic, epic FAIL.

There's a couple of decent Swiss Beers out there, they tend to be hidden away (ditto local wines) but some gems I've discovered while beer-hopping (sic) include:
