| | | Finally, a damn good Swiss beer.
Just drank the finest Swiss beer I have ever had yesterday called Sudwerk.
I tried the IPA I found in coop and it tasted like a cross between Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Fat Tire. FINALLY!!!! I can drink real beer again!
Not surprising to find out the guy is originally from California as it tastes like a beer straight out of the taps of your favorite micro brew back home. I may have to pay this guy a visit and see if I can get bulk discount. lol

Man, I would have been all over that if I were still living in Zurich. Spent 5 yrs looking for good beer, and didn't find too many...

Nice that you noticed it, they have had it on stock for about a year now .
But I do agree that it is a great beer that tastes like the real American Ales. The "Western Rider" is my favourite.

I have yet to find any English ale that can walk with some of the best American ales. English ales to me are too watery and they seem scared of displaying any "hoppyness". Granted I have not tried them all but I have tried many. I love hops, its what makes a great ale a great ale.

In the camra definition maybe. American ales are in my view a distinct category, so you could speak about "real" american ales. Although they are not english. | Quote: | | | | | That's a contradiction in terms. American Ale is, by definition, not Real Ale.

Not sure if you have ever been to the US, but if you think that they are not brewing excellent beer then you need to visit.
Over the last 30 years microbreweries have been established everywhere. And as the OP mentions, the hoppy ales (IPAs) have gotten very popular. They are definitely my favorite.

Time out, dudes.
Arguing about beer/ale is a colossal misuse of one's time. Shut up and just drink it. | | The following 10 users would like to thank Textoch for this useful post:

What do you mean, 'finally' a good Swiss beer?
Three words for you: Rapperswil Beer Brewery!

But they are made with traditional ingredients (this can be argued as to what the tradional or original ingredients are) and are not carbonated, at least not artificially as some carbonation is a by product of fermentation. | Quote: | | | | | What do you mean, 'finally' a good Swiss beer?

I like the Sudwerk beers - they're ok for session drinking. For a bit of interest I prefer the Rappi selection.
Cheers,
Nick
