Hi everyone:

I have tried Google and recommendations from friends, but have had no luck in finding a good vegetarian restaurant in Zurich. So my vegetarian friend always ends up eating plain pasta or an iceberg salad.

I know that there is a vegetarian restaurant next to the Hauptbanhof, but it is always closed when we're ready to eat.

Does anyone have any recommendations? It doesn't have to be fully vegetarian--just a place that has a good selection of non-meat dishes. I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Not necessarily cheap. But seriously vegetarian and enough options that you won't feel like a rabbit.

As Swisspea says. Hiltl rocks, great and extensive buffet and their à la carte is also very good. Great ambience and whilst not cheap, you get a great atmosphere as well the best veggie food in Zürich.

Tibits is really the best.

There is nothing better than Hiltil and Tibits, infact, every now and then I crave their food..........like now for instance.....

Khans in the Neiderdorf, is a good Indian restaurant.

A lot of useful info! I have been to Hiltl and loved it, ll try the rest.
Since I dont eat(obvious) egg either, I always end up eating butterbrezel when I am out and hungry

There is a Tibits in Winterthur as well as the one in Zurich; vegetarian buffet with tonnes of variety. Highly recommend.

Most restaurants can usually make a Gemuseteller if you're desperate, and rather than a Butterpretzel, you can usually grab a salad or plate of veggies at cafeterias above most dept stores (Jelmoli, Manor, Coop City).

Asian restaurants usually have plenty of vegetarian choices too I find.

Yes, Tibits & Hiltl, but they do sometimes seem a little overpriced to me, even though the food is delicious.

there is also a vegetarian restaurant on Langstrasse called Samosas. It s right next to Lily's (where they also have some vegetarian options). Never been to Samosas, just walked by it.

is butterbrezel without egg?.. i have always avoided those shiny looking things..
somebody told me if a bread looks nice it must have egg..

But Khan's is not a vegetarian restaurant!
They do serve veg food though apart from non veg food.

many of them are also vegan.

I know several restaurants in China that would beg to differ on the "Oldest in the world" claim.

That said (and not having tried Hiltl yet), Tibits is good and diverse, and there seem to be lots of Indian joints around which should be good for a veg option.
