Re: Greek Yoghurt

The brand "Yogos", in Migros. I've seen it pretty much everywhere, you can't miss it, in the yogurt section, in very "Greek" packaging.

I have seen FAGE Total yogurt some Coop stores. Pretty yummy but quite expensive.

In general, the few exported greek goods around aren't the cheapest around ... well, at least not until the drachma is reintroduced.

Re: Greek Yoghurt

Do some Coops still stock Total? The ones near me stopped - I thought it was a fallout of the currency issue

Re: Greek Yoghurt

Well I am Greek and allow me to say that Yogos is not real greek yogurt. If you are looking for the real thing, I would suggest MEVGAL (made in Greece). You can find it a Coop.

Re: Greek Yoghurt

The Coop in Dietikon Silbern has FAGE brand '' TOTAL '' Greek yogurt .
It's available in 0 % , 2% or full fat versions.

I have to agree , YOGOS from Migros is not the '' real '' thing .

Real Greek yogurt is very thick ,creamy and tangier than ordinary yogurt . It's strained to remove much of the liquid whey, lactose, and sugar . It gives you double the protein with half the sugar .

I substitute it for sour cream on my baked potato , great to use for all kinds of dips , it's devine with fresh berries and heavenly with honey and walnuts

Here's the link if you'd like to read more about FAGE brand Total Greek yogurt : https://www.totalgreekyoghurt.com/

You've gotta trust me on this ..... Greek yogurt is DELISH !

Re: Greek Yoghurt

Not all Coops have the TOTAL yoghurt by FAGE.

But you can definitely find it at Globus food.

Re: Greek Yoghurt

You can also do something similar at home by lining a strainer with cheesecloth or kitchen towels, and straining regular yogurt for several hours or overnight. Some people keep the whey that strains off and cook with it, as well (but no home-made rivella, thanks you-baking with it as a buttermilk substitute, although I have never tried that myself).

That did make me laugh. Had a friend with the problem, mentioned yoghurt. Weeks later she said she was still suffering, despite eating masses of yoghurt - tee hee

Dimitrios, thanks, there is not this button by this thread.

It is expensive, no doubt something to do with import tax on milk products into Switzerland.

Notice that Lidl do not stock in Switzerland, Eridanous Greek Style, that is produced in Germany. When in UK buy it by the 1000g Tub.

OMG, Thank you all, I have been looking for this for a while as well as I love it with honey. Nothing beats Total in the UK though. Thank you.
