Re: Jelly

What exactly do you mean by jelly, it means different things depending on where you come from. The stuff you spread on bread?, gelatin, etc?

They don't sell it in Swiss shops but one of the ex-pat shops may sell it.

We bring it over from the U.K. but people here think it's a bit weird.

Re: Jelly

You can get it here in Zürich in the food hall of Globus. Sorry that probably doesn't help you over in the French part, but it does exist here!

Re: Jelly

Okay, maybe I don't know what "jelly" is... but isn't "Gelee" (in German) what the OP is asking about? You can find it everywhere. It is next to the normal jams in the supermarket. At Christmas time last year, I bought raspberry jelly from Migros to make the Spitzbube cookies.

Last edited by Puhutes; 03.08.2012 at 13:09. Reason: added Migros

Re: Jelly

Wackelpudding or "wiggly pudding" is what you have to ask for, try Migros, Denner, Coop, any shop like that in the baking section.

I rather supposed the OP was asking about Jelly, which any brit knows well.

They sell it in the English section of Bider and Tanner in Basel, for example. It's a fruit-flavoured gelatine based dessert, made up with hot water and allowed to set. A favourite of all right-minded kids back in my day.

Or try "Götterspeise".

Re: Jelly

Other things to do with Jelly (Jello for are friends from over the pond)

Make it with a fizzy drink (sprite, champagne, sparkling water) gives you fizzy Jelly/jello

Jelly/Jello shots - made with your favourite hard liqour

I have a friend bringing me six packs over from the UK so I can make these for a children's meeting at church.

Incidentally, be warned you also need whipping cream, which that picture (I'm guessing you found it via Facebook, as I did) doesn't mention.

I found full instructions here...

Jelly arrives on Wednesday, I need to have a practice, hence the 6 packs!

Anyone have any bright ideas on how to stop the jelly seeping out the bottom of the straws?

Ah ok, so as us North Americans would call it: J-E-L-L-O
Yes, Götterspeisse is correct... you can find it at Globus as one already mentioned and I have seen it at most foreign food stores... Portuguese, Asian, etc. Enjoy
