Coffee prices going up in cafes

SwissInfo reports on an impending increase in the price of coffee in cafes: Café plus amer au moment de l'addition.
Quote:
Coffee lovers in Germanophone Switzerland will scowl when the time comes to pay for their "petit noir", whose cost will increase by 20 to 40 centimes. ... A cup of coffee will soon cost four francs in Germanophone Switzerland.
The cause is a combination of more expensive coffee beans and a wage increase in the restaurant trade.

A german language version is also available: Bittere Pille für Kaffee-Trinker, but not an English one (yet??).

Re: Coffee prices going up in cafes

The cafetier organisation president says that increasing prices for milk and sugar are to blame, too. That Latte Macchiato is oh-so-trendy now and a financial burden (German source).

I don't buy it. I think they've seen how Starbucks milks its customers and learned that their guests probably are willing to pay more, too. Thanks Starbucks customers!

Patient : Doctor, every time I lift my arm up it hurts,
Doctor: Well don't lift your arm

Or in other words don't go to a cafe for a coffee.

Nick.

Well that could be an option for some people, maybe if coffee and petrol sales
are boycotted in some kind of mass protest then prices will come down.

Good Idea !!!

This is a free market gentlemen, if the price is too high you simply stop buying and they'd have to lower the price if they want to sell.

Most of the price of a coffe is service anyway. a coffe at home cost me cents... I rarely take a coffe ouside
