| | | Peanut Butter?
Hi
I've only found Skippy peanut butter at Orell Füssli, is it possible to find it elsewhere? ie: Migros? Coop?
Hope to hear from another PB fan
Cheers! |

Hi, I use to find Skippy but haven't in a long time. My favorite was Jif. I now of all I have tried here (and I tried alot) use Coop only. Migro's was too grainy and not my taste. I go thur a jar in two weeks with my son. Not counting making PB cookies or PB w/ chocolate chip cookies. (I use Migro's chocolate pieces in my Coop PB) So in my taste buds Coop is the best and acceptable here.

Hi Sliced,
Thanks for your reply, I'll be sure to check out Coop to see how theirs is, and its good to know that you use Migros Chocolate chips in your Coop PB, that was going to be my next question - where to find good chocolate chips |

The chocolate pieces are not probably the best but the easiest for me to use and find. Works ok in my cookies, brownies, cakes, banana bread, etc. Am sure others can tell you better. I know you can order Chocolate chips but price wise these work. Good Luck

Migros sells their own brand peanut butter which I think is quite good.

It's been a while since I got it, but I have a (small) jar of Skippy that I *must* have gotten either at Rewe or Heber over in Germany.
I do usually get pb from Coop though, I like theirs just fine. |

Only close-tO-decent kind I have found is from Hieber. It's called Whole Earth and had no added sugar, unfortunately it has salt but it's pretty good.

I go for Coop's as well. Barney's something... Not as good as Sunpat in the UK but certainly doable and you can get used to it

If you live in Zurich you can buy Skippy brand peanut butter at Asia Shop in Oerlikon (right near the train station.) There's also an Asia Shop in the Zurich HB, though I'm not sure whether that branch also has Skippy. The ingredients and nutrition information is all in Chinese but it to me it tastes pretty much like Skippy PB in the US.
We've also bought Barney's brand from Coop and it's fine as well.

Why not make it yourself?
It's basically, peanuts, peanut oil, salt and a little sugar all mushed up...

I generally buy a bunch of the cruncy peanut butter when Lidl has its American week. My little guy has it for breakfast almost every single day |

Thanks to everyone who responded!
To be honest, I have thought of making my own, but that will have to wait until I get a bigger kitchen
I will definitely check out Asia Shop for sure!
Merci!

Sorry- I had the name wrong. It's Asia STORE, not Asia Shop. Website is here: www.asia-store.ch
Good luck!

Coop and Migros both sell peanut butter. Migros even offers crunchy or smooth.
Chocolate chips I would pick up at Jelmoli - they have Tollhouse if memory serves me well.

Sounds like a good excuse to make a hop over the pond to the U.S., no? |

I used to see Jif at the COOP at Sihlcity.

Coop has North American-style peanut butter in smooth and crunchy. (Coming from a Canadian.) They are stored where the breakfast jams and marmalade is. It's called Erdnussbutter and I think it even has an American flag on it.
Personally I prefer the REAL peanut butter which is made out of pure peanuts and nothing else, no sugar, extra oils and salts. You can find that at health food stores and Bio-stores.

All peanut butters I've seen in Switzerland have trans-fat (hydrogenated oils). I can't even begin to describe how this is so remarkably bad for you.
The BIO stores in France usually have a pure product somewhere on the shelves.

No hydrogenated oils. Just palm oil, which has zero trans fats. Plenty of saturated fat, though. | | This user would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post: | | |
