Re: chayote

I've only seen it in St. Louis, France, near Basel. You may want to ask in el maiz to check wether they sell it.

Re: chayote

It's a vegetable, like avocado and tomato. ;P

Re: chayote

I lost some hours searching for Chayote in Basel This is however the only place I found a hint...
Finally they can be found in:
- Tang Asien Supermarket at Spalenring 1 (Burgfelderplatz), they also order it for you if they don't have it on stock
- Alima Supermarkt Breisacherstrasse 92 (Bläsiring), they have a very big variaty of vegetables

I paid 3.95 per kg, 1 Chayote is ~400

Re: chayote

When I could not find Chayote, I found Calabash to be a suitable substitute for what I needed. They are long melon gourds, also found in Asian markets that look like this:

But now I will look for the chayote as well.

As far as I know, chayote it´s not a fruit. It is a vegetable.

"Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom, is not putting it in the fruit salad"
