Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to buy pre-prepared seaweed salad. A friend mentioned it is in the fish deli in the biggest Migros' stores. Another friend mentioned there are a variety of seaweed salads in the fish deli in Manor. Alas, I went to both stores, and couldn't find it, and none of the staff asked knew anything about it.

Do any of you buy this? If so, where?

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

I've also seen it in Manor - often near the sushi/smoked salmon area - and in organic/bio stores.

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

Seafood stand at Markthalle IM Viadukt. Delicious.

http://www.im-viadukt.ch/

Next to Grumpygrapefruit's British Cheese stand.

You can also make your own from dried seaweed and a recipe from the Internet. You can probably find the dried seaweed from Yumihana (Japanese/Korean Market). Pretty easy to make.

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

In the big Migros complex at Bankverein there is a sushi place which sells seaweed salad.

Failing that, try the Chinese supermarket between SBB and Markthalle.

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

I've seen the salads even in the small Migros, single M, in the refrigerated fish/seafood section. In Lausanne.

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

Wakame? Coop has it near the smoked salmon and other non-fresh fish. Very tasty with loads of sesame.

This Migros was one of the stores I tried today. Where is the sushi place?

That's the one. Do you recall what it is labelled as, or how it appears (in jar or plastic container etc)?

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

I ventured back to Migros and Coop, and also went to the New Asia Market in Wettsteinplatz. After being advised yet again that no such things are within each shop, I finally found the algensalat in both Migros and Coop. Migros have different weighted containers, so you can choose your size. Staff in Migros even said they have no fish or sushi or "exotic things like that".

I bought some wakame seaweed in the New Asia Market, as I am going to try to make the algensalat myself, too.

After you rehydrate it, you only need to add a mixture of rice vinegar, salt and sugar. Toasted sesame seeds optional.

Err, it's in a clear plastic tub full of wakame and sesame salad with WAKAME written on the top. It's really not hard to find.

Hi.

I bought some of the seaweed in Saint Louis, France, close to Basel. The shop is "LE COIN NAUTRE" is located in 42-44 Avenue de Bāle, the street of the tram number 11.

I would highly recomend you this place, they have a lot of BIO food.

Regards,

Carles

Re: Seaweed Salad - Where to Buy?

When I first got here and didn't know my way around, I used to buy the Goma Wakame salad from Migros. It also contains wood ear/ jelly ear mushrooms, which I like.

Unfortunately IMO it is way too sweet.

Nowadays I make it myself from the following recipe with sesame dressing:
http://www.justonecookbook.com/recip...-salad-recipe/

I've got to try it out with the miso dressing next time.
